Meet Nikita from Scorpion Says
Some questions stay with you for years without you even realizing it.
Hi, I’m Nikita, a girl who grew up in a small town in India. As a child, I often heard the same complaint from many women around me: “I hardly eat anything, but I still keep gaining weight.”
My mum, grandmum, and many neighbors said this often. Their meals honestly looked small — most days, just one or two chapatis with dal or a simple vegetable curry. And, it confused me deeply.
My main concern was how could someone eat so little and still struggle with weight? Keep in mind that I am talking about a time when smartphones and internet weren’t part of our daily lives, and the internet wasn’t easily accessible. So this question stayed with me for years.
But I never stopped thinking about it.
What Travel Taught Me About Food
Years later, I began traveling — first across cities, then across countries. And I started noticing something interesting. Many women I saw abroad looked naturally fit. That made me curious enough to observe their plates.
There was no magic involved. But their meals were simply structured differently. Eggs, fish, meat — protein was a regular part of their diet.
Back home, meals looked very different. Plates were dominated by carbohydrates like rice, chapati, or bread, while protein often appeared in very small amounts, or not at all.
That contrast stayed with me.
Understanding the Role of Food Education
Over time, I realized something important: The issue wasn’t always overeating. In many cases, it was a lack of food awareness. Traditional diets around me were heavily carbohydrate-based, with limited focus on balanced nutrition. And that made me understand something deeper —food culture shapes health more than we realize. The way we grow up eating often becomes the way we continue living.
Why I Started This Blog
Travel didn’t just change what I ate — it changed how I think. Every place has its own food identity. Every culture builds meals differently, based on history, availability, and habits. Now when I travel, I don’t just taste food. I observe it. I question it. I try to understand it. This curiosity is what led me to start this wellness lifestyle blog.
